Boiling Water

Less water boils faster, having a lid on the pot will help it boil faster, use cold water if you are concerned about hot water pipes leaching lead into your water. Put the pot on high heat and wait until the water is at a rolling boil, lots of big bubbles.

Salt will absorb into food cooked in boiling water.
